SEPTOPLASTY
WHAT IS A SEPTOPLASTY
A septoplasty is a corrective surgical procedure done to straighten a deviated nasal septum. The nasal septum divides the nasal cavity into two sides.
WHY WOULD I NEED A SEPTOPLASTY
A septoplasty may be performed to improve nasal breathing, repair nasal injuries or correct abnormalities.
HOW CAN WE TREAT IT WITH A MINIMALLY INVASIVE PROCEDURE
For appropriate candidates, a balloon-like catheter is placed on each side of the nose and inflated. This pushes the septum into a more favorable position. After this any spurs or projections may be removed to further improve your breathing.
